Grant Marshall

Marshall believes words or pictures, when viewed in isolation, often only tell one half of a story. Working in the medium of pen and ink (with no reliance on computer programmes) he democratises his subject matter by stripping away the context of time denoted by trends in visual styling. This introduces an immediacy to the studies of the subjects themselves by removing them from the context of their historical timelines. Marshall is a graphic artist, book illustrator and Creative Director whose work can be found on the walls of creatives across a range of disciplines: from culinary innovator Fergus Henderson and film directors including LA-based Iain MacDonald and UK-based Neil Marshall, to musicians such as Johnny ‘Bluehat’ Davis, saxophonist with Sam Fender. Marshall has had work in shows across London and the south east.

Samuel Philip Marshall

Samuel Philip Marshall graduated with a BA in Fine Art Photography from Camberwell College of Arts and an MA in Curation from Chelsea College of Arts, London. He has worked as an art consultant for various galleries and museums in London and the North East, and has shown work in galleries and art fairs across Europe and the United States. Exploring the various cultural themes that define specific locations Marshall creates maps that blend the fantastical and the historical, celebrating the communities they depict in the process. From New York to London, Brighton to San Francisco, Marshall walks the streets of these neighbourhoods against a backdrop of strange creatures and mystical beasts - all inspired by what the artist calls the 'spirit of place'. Marshall also examines the aesthetics of the urban environment through photography - capturing the transient and ever changing textures of the city walls and creating abstract compositions from the found collages he discovers along the way.
